A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Nora, the founder of Mini Math Explorers! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education and Special Education from New York University, along with a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s Teachers College. With nearly 20 years of experience as a math specialist in some of the country’s top private schools, I’m passionate about making early math learning fun and meaningful for young children.

It is my belief that building a strong number sense is the key to future academic success. My hands-on, playful approach invites kids to explore shapes, numbers, patterns, and more in a warm, small-group setting. Each activity is designed to spark curiosity and build confidence while meeting children right where they are developmentally.

I'm all about creating a community where kids feel excited to learn, collaborate, and grow—and where parents feel supported every step of the way. Join me at Mini Math Explorers, and let’s help your little one develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime!

What age group do you serve?

At Mini Math Explorers, we welcome children ages 4 to 5, specifically those in the year before kindergarten. We create age-appropriate activities that not only build essential math skills but also foster a love for learning, ensuring that each child feels confident and prepared for their next academic step!

What is your class size?

Our classes typically have 6 to 8 children, ensuring each child gets ample attention.

What is your class schedule?

Classes meet once per week and are offered Monday through Thursday from 2:15-3:15 pm.

What is the structure of a Mini Math Explorers session?

A typical Mini Math Explorers session starts with a number sense routine to warm up, followed by a mathematical story that relates directly to the content we are covering. Students then engage in hands-on activities and games, working in small groups, pairs, and independently. I circulate and work closely with each student to provide support. The session concludes with a group reflection to reinforce key concepts. The structure ensures a balance of whole group, partner, and independent work while keeping all students engaged and learning at their own pace.
